The 2024 Subaru Forester offers great visibility, sizeable cargo space, and great technology you want to play around with. It also includes one of the best driver assistance safety systems available, EyeSight. EyeSight uses cameras, sonar, sensors, and radar to watch around you and warn of potential dangers you might not have seen so you can avoid an accident. We’ll look closely at a few of the systems you can expect in your Forester.
Safety Features You’ll Find on the 2024 Subaru Forester
DriverFocus
This feature utilizes an interior camera that monitors your eye and head positions and warns you if you become tired or distracted. You’ll hear warning beeps if the camera detects your head isn’t facing forward and a warning appears on your screen to advise you to keep your eyes on the road. The camera also identifies signs of tiredness like drooping eyelids or staring fixedly ahead, and a series of warning beeps signal it is time to take a break from driving.
Steering Responsive Headlights
This system uses sensors to identify a vehicle’s headlights or tail lights in front or headed in your direction. If your headlights are set to high beams, this feature automatically switches them to low beams to prevent blinding the other drivers. Once the lights have disappeared from the sensor range, your headlights revert to high beams.
In addition, your headlights automatically swivel in the direction you’re turning to ensure the road is always clearly illuminated.
Blind Spot Detection
Blind spots are potentially dangerous as they’re areas you can’t easily see. Sensors are installed to monitor blind spots, and you’ll hear a warning tone if a vehicle enters one.
If you’re changing lanes and another vehicle is traveling at high speed in that lane, a warning icon appears on the relevant side mirror and you’ll hear warning beeps. This gives you sufficient notice to turn back into your lane or brake to prevent a collision.
Reverse Automatic Braking
When reversing, you may not be able to see a potential hazard behind you. This system uses sensors that point directly behind you. These sensors will detect any object and provide visual and audio warnings so you can hit the brakes. If you can’t respond quickly enough, the system automatically applies the brakes to prevent an accident.
Pre-Collision Braking
This system uses radar and a camera to scan the road ahead. If it detects an object, it compares your speed to the distance to the object to determine if a collision is possible. The system provides visual and audio alerts of potential danger and will apply the brakes if needed to prevent a collision.
